I just got my Maverick ET-73. Do you have to turn off the transmitter after each use or can you just leave it on?

You have to turn it off or you will run down the batteries real quick. I know it is a pain to turn it on and off, but it was designed that way to make it water resistant, since the unit is generally used outdoors.
