Title: RUBS
Post by: Cold Smoke on February 05, 2004, 10:27:13 PM
I just bought a Bradley in December and only just recently started smoking due to the bitter cold (30 to 50 below)up here this past January. I was wondering if anyone can direct me to any sites that would have good rub recipes or know of any great commercially made rubs for sale. Rubs are not all that common here in Manitoba and I've not been able to locate anything locally. Any info would be greatly appreciated.[:D]

Hi there Cold Smoke!  Welcome to the forum...

I've eyeballed several areas of the forum and it appears that there are 3 different websites the B.S. people are using:

www.eldonsausage.com
www.himtnjerky.com
www.wildwestseasong.com

Good Luck and let us know how things turn out for you!

My favorite is Rudy's Rub from a restaurant chain in Texas. It's fantastic, but be careful you can over-do it.(And I like it pretty hot.) Made a batch of ribs for the now wife before we were married. She tried to put a game face on, but I called her on it & we ordered a pizza.

Took the meat off the bones & threw it in the freezer. In the fall I pulled it out & made a 3 gallon batch of chili. The meat was the only seasoning I put in![:0]

Thanks for the welcome Fuzzybear and Chez Bubba. I've taken each of your recommendations and purchased some HiMountain Buckboard Bacon rub and jerky cures and also sent an email to Rudy's (not sure if they deliver to Canada and their toll free # not accessible from my area). I can't wait to try these- the weather's starting to let up a bit.

Fuzzy- hope you get your BS soon. Let us know how things turn out.

Chez Bubba- Ordered from you on Saturday and received my items today- is that top-of-the-line service or what?

Cold Smoke,

If you strike out with the Rudy's email, let me know. Not sure when my next order will be, but I'll order extra for you if you want.

Re: ".....made a 3 gallon batch of chili. The meat was the only seasoning I put in....."  We're gonna get along just fine [:p]  I just checked the freezer to see if I had any samples of the HOT salmon to send your way.....nope, dang it!!

Looks like I'm gonna have to break down, brave the cold and see if there's anymore 56 pounders lurking off Yukon Island, (like my neighbor pulled in yesterday on a lousy Dipsy Diver......running out of fresh salmon around here[:(]
