Yeah your welcome here. I guess we get upset when someone starts something on our forum. We have to protect it and the members who are daily regulars. For allot of us the folks here are like family.

That was a strange turn of events. He came to my post on "Why Texans eat Brisket and not Salmon" and was a nice guy. You ought to see some of the nature shots he posted. Beautiful pictures of Alaska. And then....190 degree turn..........geez I'll be scratching my head about this one for a day or two. Brian did what he thought best for the forum.

Well His Ip address would give him away and that is connected to your computer. It is not an easy thing to change. You know I felt the air on here change after reading only a couple of his posts and I knew something was up. It was strange and I even said so to my daughter. Partly because he came of as a challenging braggart and that is 2 things that rub me the wrong way. Nepas you do not have to say sorry for anything.

Nothing as far as I know, unless he has a static IP address that can be blocked. I cruise a number of forums for my hobbies and there's always some idiot that pops up and starts trouble. The best tactic is to ignore them and they'll go away. I regret I didn't do that last night. OK, my dumb.

I see we have the same horse different color again tonight. Big Red don't waste your time. Nepas created this thread to apologize for some comments that were made in a now deleted thread. I am going to do the same. For those that don't know me I instigated an argument with Big Stick (Totally out of character for me) in his post because he was in my opinion bashing on one of the newer members. I felt that his sole purpose for coming onto this forum was to instigate and cause a fight with who ever he could. I didn't want one of the newer members to feel attacked and possibly leave the site for good because " If I go on there no matter what I say this guy is going to belittle me!" That is NOT what we, and those before us, have tried to make this forum. We want it to be as friendly and open as we can possibly make it. So that anyone wanting to learn something about smoking with or without a Bradley, can feel free to come ask questions and get nonjudgmental answers in an enjoyable atmosphere. That my friends is why I did what I did. So I too am here to say I am sorry if I offended anyone with my comments in that thread.
Here here 10.5, I have not been on this forum to long but I was made to feel like I was a friend no matter how dumb my question was. The knowledge of our main subject is so far outreaching that it amazes me that there is no question you can ask and not get an answer. The fact that a little good natured rib can be thrown in without anybody being offended is monumental to the success of this forum. However when out and out bashing of someone because you don't agree with their opinion is beyond what we have here and is uncalled for. As I said I have not been on here for along time but I noticed the air change within a few posts from him and that is something that I have never felt on here yet. 10.5 you nor anyone owes anybody an apology for what went on and if anyone believes so then maybe they don't deserve access to this great forum. Everyone has the right to their opinion but to just be a bully is not tolerable.

I totaly agree with Quarlow. Nothing and I mean nothing that was done by you guys warrents an appology. It will be a sad world we live in when one has to appologize for defending some one or some thing one cares about.

I don't know what went down, but we've had people like that on the forum in the past. They just don't go away, they refuse to be ignored, and tend to escalate their poor behavior. For those members who've been around, can anyone say "Johnnyx", or the guy who thought he was doing the forum a great favor by bestowing upon us his great knowledge of jerky. :)
When a member like that appears a few more generally pop up around the same time. There are a group of people who base there argument on factoids, and feel they have the right to say what every they want any time they want. They have no social filters, and turn to personal attacks to "force" others to accept their statements as fact or just to instigate.

You did the correct thing, and there is nothing for you to apologize for. Many of my earlier posts I'm not proud of; because of the way I handled a few of these type of individuals, but it appears you handled it properly. If gone unchallenged he would have continued to target individuals.
Don't know what happened - don't really want to know - don't need to - I can imagine if it is like so many other forums I've been a part of. It happens to little local flyfishing forums of less than 100 members to big ole monstrosities. On certain subjects and against certain people I will argue and debate for as long as it takes (one reason I have not posted as much here lately - been doing that on another site). There is seldom a "winner" but at least everybody who reads the posts, know there is another way to look at things. But for whoever defended this forum and it's good members, I tip my hat to ya'. To Brian for giving him the boot - my hats off to ya'. Thanks everyone! Lets keep being a family - a great big smoking family! I have to agree with most here and say that NePa and Tenpoint have nothing to be sorry for. I was literally " " this close to doing the "Report to Moderator" on the thread in question, and that's something I normally just sit back and let other people take care of.
Pete, in my humble opinion, it wasn't necessarily what the guy was saying, it was how he was saying it that got people against him.

Presumably grown men have no need to belittle other people just to get their point across. It is fine to present your opinion for others to ponder and either accept or reject, but rejecting your believes doesn't warrant personal attacks to try and force some to see things your way. Pete, I think you have alot to offer this forum. But this is a friendly place and we want to keep it that way so we can all learn from each other and share our knowledge. You have a lot going for you because of experience and life skills that you have learned from a life in the frozen north. Share it with us, but don't cram it down our throats.

This will be my only post on this as I've made a vow to myself that I intend to keep! Yes, I am from Texas and pretty darn proud of it. Am I upset and whining – Nope, no need too, I was born in arguably the Greatest State in the Greatest Country in the World! Should I be mad or whine because of that! My ancestors and family stood proudly and fought for this Great Country, and for the id...im.....as....'right thinkers" such as you! Wildcat, yes I have recovered only to start again. It seems the best thing that goes with waiting for your stuff to be smoked, is to sip JD and wait. Although it seems that the longer you smoke, the harder it seems to get your smoked stuff out of the tower :D :D ;D

One of the many reasons I like long smokes like the 20 hour butts. Start at 7 pm, adult beverage or two until bed time, change water bowl and go to bed. Next morning spritz meat and do whatever desired until meat is done (around 2 to 4 pm), then let meat rest until dinner time. ;)

Well if he has GCI and his cable modem speed is under 4mb per second on the download then his IP won't be static... yes that is who I work for to all Alaskans please don't PM me if your having issues lol.
