Title: Auber Dual Probe or Single Probe??
Post by: Beaver Believer on February 11, 2010, 08:01:47 PM
I'm picking up my OBS this Saturday and am planning on buying a PID.  If I understand correctly the dual probe gives you a little more flexibility and control.  Is it worth the additional $25?  And the additional wait since Auber is currently out of them??

I'm not the most patient guy in the world especially when it comes to new toys.

Hopefully Auber will have them in stock soon? ???

The single probe is good.

The dual probe gives you the ability to sutoff or adjust the bradley heat , AFTER your meat has reached it's proper IT.

The dual probe has a meat it reader and the single doesn't.

So worth the $25?  Seems like it would almost make it idiot proof which is always a good thing.

I never had the single probe and not saying I couldn't live with it.

But the dual is nice!

You have 6 different setting for ramping according to the IT of the meat.

If you are doing sausage, you program it and it does the ramping for you.

I turn on the Auber and it brings my Bradley up to a pre-heat of 250* for 1 hr.

By then everybody is in getting happy.

(for like Butts) I program it for 220* till the IT reaches 190*

then it goes down to 150* for two hrs (in case I don't take it out when it reaches it's IT)

I agree with CRG, I have the dual probe and like the flexibility. The maverick would also be a wise investment, it makes life easy having a remote and gives you peace of mind if you are smoking thru the night! Good Luck!!!

For $25 it is a no brainer.  I wish I could upgrade my single probe.
