Title: Iron Chef Bradley VI Ingredients and Smack Talk
Post by: Tenpoint5 on May 13, 2010, 04:27:53 PM
Miss Deb has been after me to do another Iron Chef. As soon as she gives me the turn in dates I will post them. So the question is. Are you ready??? For the new folks this is how it works.

Basic Iron Chef rules:

Be creative on your recipes.

It can be as simple as a new ABT or a recipe that would take a snooty waiter in a fancy-schmancy restaurant 10 minutes to describe.

At least 80% of the cook time must be done in the Bradley Smoker, grill or other outdoor cooking method. Up to 20% of the cook time can be done on the stove, oven.

Use any spices or pre-made BBQ sauces, or other goodies as you wish.

The recipe is not limited to just the 3 main ingredients. Your pantry is open and anything is fair game to be used in your recipe. As long as the meat and two other ingredients are in one dish. IE...one bite gets all three ingredients.

It can be breakfast, brunch, lunch, or supper, or midnight snack.

The turn in thread will be opened on the 28th of May and closed during the day on May 31st. The voting will be May 31st through June 4th.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE INGREDIENTS???

The Ingredients are:

Bulk Sausage (Any Flavor)
Beer
Feta Cheese

If any of the new folks have any questions on what this is all about PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK! The whole reason we do this is to get us out of a rut and think outside the box. Use some ingredients that we might not normally use together. And to have some good natured fun picking on each other and talking some trash.

Already got it covered. Cooked using a little known method once written up on a cave drawing found in lower Alabama near the mountains. You know, the 'Whipinassy mountain range.' They are gone now but you can still view them from the air. At one time this was a thriving community of the Whipinassy Indian tribe. They eventually all moved to Baton Rouge........... ::)

Had to make it Feta, didn't you, couldn't just be Goat cheese.  I love many goat cheeses, but Feta is at about the bottom of my goat cheese list.

Do we post pics of the final product along with the recipe or do we include pics of each step of the preparation and cooking process?  Just trying to get a handle on what is expected.

See typical woman you got that all wrong. In my rulebook it says that you should be barefoot and pregnant and in the kitchen cooking your man his dinner. It should be hot and ready along with a cold beer as soon as he gets home from work.

Although after having spent the last week with seven kids living in my house and the oldest one being 11. I have altered the pregnant part and it has been penciled out of my rulebook.

10.5 -- you might like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLM-ojIZp4s) from one of our State's contemporary "heroes".  It's an oldie (was popular in the 70's) but I think in your case it may still fit.

Put a second sausage patty on top to make a sausage-feta sandwich, sunk in the beer.  ever see the movie Always ?  Recall the scene back a the post when the crews are celebrating and dancing, during which John Goodman dunks and swirls his chicken leg in his beer before woofing it down?  Same idea.

The ones that scare me the most are those that carry a pair of nippers (you know, the ones they use on the male calves in spring) in the back pocket of their jeans.  :o
I have one of those.  :D :D
But the one I have doesn't nip em, it bands em.
Cuts off the circulation until they shrivel up and die.
Then they fall off......  ;)
Carolyn
Oh, I've had them...there is a place called the Snake Pit between here and MT that's their specialty.
I tried them there.  i thought their only redeeming quality was that they were deep-fried  :D
Now fried morels is one of my faves :) They don't taste like they came from the back end of a steer!  ;)
Carolyn

Cruel, Evil and Vindictive!!Sounds like she actually enjoys doing that!! Scalpel works better cause then you get Rocky Mountain Oysters!! Good Eats!!
10.5,
I buy ready made steers now, so I don't get to use it anymore.
Do you really like them things?  :P
Carolyn
They are actually quite good. Skin them, Roll in Egg wash, roll in crushed Saltine crackers, then pan fry in butter. Kinda like morrells

Ok, I got an 18 pk of beer today and figured I needed 3 beers to do a test run and then the finish product.

(It's all highly technical)

So I could do something with the other 15 beers. Burp.

I think I have to go back to the store tomorrow ... this time a 30 pack and I will hide some.

No wonder Scott didn't answer the phone he was being rushed to the hospital!!! Burnt the dinner huh!!!! He didn't tell me about that one. That's just too funny!! After an EYE exam and everything bet you did real well measuring things!!

I have to agree Arnie how could she tell if the pics are focused or not. Blurry just like her vision. Or did she take blurry pics and that is just another excuse so we won't see just how bad her entry really is!! I am thinking option 2

3rd generation OC.
The 55/ 5 interchange was built on my great grandparents' orange orchard land.
They had to sell off to the government, you know that immanent domain thing. ;)

I agree! There is not ONE entry that wouldn't make someone very happy to have as a meal.

Congrats to all who entered! I have put a couple of them in my "must do" list.

slice of buttered beer bread with fig preserves. ;D

Not sure I follow you on this Tim. I went back and checked and everyone had the 3 required ingredients. Or are you saying you had as much trouble as we did at picking, cause I could have checked anyone of those awesome recipes.

There are certain items that I won't eat, one major one is onions, so the recipes that include them immediately got shot out.  The recipe I voted for does in fact have the three listed ingredients, and the only item in the entire recipe I saw that would have to be eliminated is the Feta (never had it, don't wanna try it).  The rest included at least 1 additional ingredient that will never be included in anything I make for myself (and will shoot anybody that tries to trick me into eating them ;) ).

Ok I get Tim  :D :D :D That breaks it down alright. I on the otherhand don't come across to many things I don't like so it was very hard for me. Feta is not for everyone. It is salty tasting but has an underlying taste that I find hard to explain. But I am a victim of my best buds mother in that she showed me many different cheeses I would never have been exposed to at home. I gain a great love for nearly all cheeses and have a difficult time at the deli section of the grocery store. Sometimes I just walk away cause I can't decide what to buy. I will be delving into cheese making(thanks Deb I need another hobby, not) when I get back to work. My first crack will be fresh mozzarella. One thing thought Tim is that you never now what you missed unless you have tryed it and at least you can say "I tryed it and don't like it". You just never know what you might like. I tryed some goat milk brie awhile ago, now I have a problem with goats cheese since my uncle gave me some of that weird kind of brownish stuff when I was little and told me it was candy, so not ready for the flavour I almost chucked and then he pulled a double whammy, he said here wash it down with some milk and gave me a big glass of goats butter milk. I don't know what was funnier, me chucking on the floor and crying or my gran taking him by the ear and making him clean up my chuck while down on his hands and knees. But this goats milk Brie was an awesome delight for sure and now an addiction.
