Title: Jan's Spicy Dry Rub recipe
Post by: KyNola on July 18, 2010, 11:25:28 AM
Jan and I have test cooked this enough times that we're ready to release the tweaks from the original Jan's Dry Rub recipe.  They are very simple but a big difference in our opinion.

First of all, here is the link to the original recipe on the recipe website. http://www.susanminor.org/forums/showthread.php?467-Jan-s-Dry-Rub

Now, 2 simple tweaks.  Sub the same amount of onion powder for the onion salt in the original.  Then, push the cayenne up to 1 1/2 to 2 tsps.

We tried a third tweak of subbing garlic powder for the garlic salt along with the onion salt/onion powder switch.  It just didn't taste right to us.

The salt content is reduced just a tad by using onion powder and the heat steps up with the increased cayenne.

Both recipes are killers with Carolina Treet.  Hope you guys enjoy.  Give us some feedback if you try it.  Would like your opinion.
