i have a 6 and 4 lb butt im smoking on friday for sunday afternoon. im using mr brown rub.any other suggestions . about 220 degrees and how much time. i have 1 digital probe. thanks for any help.
Welcome Steve. Butts are funny. I have done a 8 lb in 12 hrs and an 8 lb in 19 hrs. Leave yourself plenty of time. You can always FTC for several hours if they get ready early. I would start about 5:00 PM staurday at the latest if doing both at the same time. 220* cabinet temp is good. Take the IT to 195* and FTC.
about 4 hrs of smoke, maybe use 225 to 230 for cabinet temp.
rotate them piggies after the smoke.

i put the 2 butts in at 4:30 pm at 225 with 4 hrs smoke. checked at 5:30 am and they were t 190. left them about 1 hr longer to 195. removed and ftc for about 2 hrs. the smell was great and the meat fell apart. everyone really enjoyed it. thanks to the forum for the help.
