Title: Auber for BDS
Post by: Indy Smoker on October 19, 2010, 11:06:19 AM
A question for the experts or those with a BDS.

I am thinking on adding an auber PID, what are the benefits other than managing the temp swings?  While not necessary to use the Auber, I am sure it will help, but how? I read thet on the OBS model it will control the smoke tower also - can I program my smoke tower to come on an hour later using the PID and digital model, or does that still need to be started manually ?

If you have a BDS and an Auber please reply and share your thoughts if it was a worthy investment or not.

I've got a 6 rack and a PID.   I only use the PID now.    I only bought the singe probe but it works for me.   I do a lot of sausage out of deer meat.   Temp control is crucial in sausage smoking.   The PID also allows the smoker to step up the temps as it goes along.   No need to baby sit it and change temps.   If I had bought the 2 probe it would be able to turn off the smoker when the desired IT is reached so for now I have guess when the temp will be reached and be there to turn it off.
