Thanks to all who answered my last post re: number of bisquettes needed, I should be receiving them bubba pucks tomorrow.  Planning to smoke some pork butt this weekend!!!

Reading through the different threads and recipes, it seems like the total time needed for the pork takes anywhere from 10 - 24 hours (not including the time needed for FTC).

In your experience, approx how long will it take to cook 6 lbs of pork butt to internal temp of ~190? Also, what do you guys usually do if you finish cooking early? How do you keep the meat hot/warm when it is being served say...3-4 hours after it's done cooking?

Kinda of a tough question but here it goes.  The pork should cook in 10-14 hrs at around 225°f.  When it reaches the desired temp(i go 200°f on my pork butt)do the FTC and let it sit until you are ready to get the food ready to eat.  The meat should stay piping hot for 6 hours(while FTC'd) at least.  Happy Smokin' HTH.

Well, a 6lb butt is not a large one but it does take time and you shouldn't rush it. As BigSmoker mentioned the FTC is a great tool. It allows you to get the meat in the smoker early and take it out plenty of time before eating and have it nice and hot when YOU are ready. I have left ribs FTC'd for 6 hours and they were perfect eating temp.

I agree with the above postings.  However, I do mine a llttle cooler. Box temp. for me is 205 F or abouts. I don't care for pulled pork so I also pull mine earlier... 175-180 F.
