I just finished reading all the forums about temp contols. i bought the thermoeter from bradley is this bad?should i return it and get the maverick or spend the money on the guru.Also, what is this temp thing on the bs.why did the make it like that?Please explain.

P.S Chez bubbu why is your website not working? ALso, can i have your 1-800 #. Thank you

I use the therometer from Bradley. Ya it is single probe. I use it to watch the box temp. and once I get closer to the finishing time I place it into the item being smoked. The only draw back is there is no On or Off switch on it. So when I'm done I just pull the battery.

IMO the rheostat is used as it allows a more even/ consistent power flow to the element. I have found that once the box is at the temp. I want for an hours or so then it will stay pretty much on that mark.

Once you've used it a few times, it's pretty simple to figure out, so in my book, it's a plus.
