The heart was racing as the postman came up the front stairs with a box in his hand. But wait, it is too early for the Bradley Forum Gift Exchange (BFGE). (Unless someone jumped the gun!!!)

Hi Everyone
I haven't been around in awhile as I have been super busy with school and now of course Christmas shopping.  I'm hoping to have my gift off on Monday for a speedy delivery but of course it is Canada Post we are talking about. 
So I got home and to my surprise there was a box waiting for me!  How excited was I for an early Christmas gift....... ;D
Brain at Bradley got my name and he sent along some great Bradley swag!  Pictures below. Oh, and there were some fishing lures in there...so who is taking me fishing!

Thanks very much Brian..you have motivated me to pull the fish out of the freezer and as Larry the Cable Guy would say "get ur done!" 
PS:  Where is your new location as I wouldn't mind swinging by to see the place!  Some homemade chocolate chip cookies coming your way!

At first I was like...Crown?  I hate whiskey but when I realized they were pucks I was excited as I think meat would be great with Crown pucks!  I will be a one women advertising machine for Bradley...hey Brian do you guys need any part-time help?  I think it would be great to work for Bradley part-time (as I already work full time)!

@Ross..I haven't fly fished yet and I have fished for salmon in the past but next summer I would like to get out there and try it...maybe some of the local guys can show me the ropes as I'm  likely to take out an eye fly fishing...seriously..that is my luck!  8)

Lots of rain, lakes are up, lots of genning on the rivers - nothing else to do but think about fly fishing and daydream!  This time of year content on painting them rather than catching - have a Brookie on the board just about finished.  My next project.  Bamboo fly rod making!  But unfortunate for my gift buddy, my first one won't be done until well after the exchange!

Future bamboo fly rods - from China - it would be hard to imagine how much this bundle cost to buy and get here.  With all the tools, materials, etc... my first rod will cost $3K.  Only good thing is that the rest will be free!  ;D That bundle could yield 20 rods.

Believe, me, I'm gonna try - already have tried to find where I can buy the variety.  It's a very specific variety grown in this very specific spot in china.  Supposed to have the greatest flexibility, thickness, long node length, less low branches, and better strength to weight ratio.  But like with most stuff like that is it 2% better or 175% better - you can't find out or at least I haven't.  Might be like the lady who would cut her turkey in half to cook it.  When her daughter got old enough and had a family herself her daughter asked her why she cut the turkey in half.  She did not know, just knew that was what her mother did.  So she asked her mother  Same answer.  So the grandmother was asked and she said simple - when she was young her mother did it and did it because the wood burning stove/oven she used the oven was too small and she had to cut the turkey in half to get it in.  Everybody was doing it just because that was the way her mother did, not for a reason.

I received a christmas box today from a good friend, Mike aka muebe, and I got some real good stuff and thank you and Merry Christmas to your whole family Mike...
That chicken and leg grill rack will work out real well on the new MAK as will the Jalapeno pepper rack...
the Bear Claws will see lots of pork butts...lol  and the Carolina Treet goes without saying is the best...

Here check this out. My buddy started growing it in his backyard. He traded with others online and then started selling to people and companys. He was making more money from it than he was from trucking and eventually had to sell his house and by a farm out in the valley. He now imports bamboo, roof thatch and furniture. He has many different varietys and sells large amounts to the Toronto zoo and to rich folks in the UAE and all around the world. www.bambooworld.com/

Alpine Touch Seasoning - already did a taste test.  I see this being great on a steak and brisket.

KH, it will be empty before the day is over.  :) The fifth I had somehow ended up empty a couple weeks ago.  ::)

Rick, its a Olympus SP-600UZ. Nice camera but because the lens is a combo wide angle / zoom, the close up pics get blurred. I was just playing with it and did find how to use the macro so I'm sure close up pics will be much nicer.

Samuel - Hope you enjoy them all.  Tried to write a little something about each.  May have forgotten the Salt Lick.  It is great on everything I have ever used it on - butt, brisket and ribs.  The Broken Trail is a mustard based sauce and very good on pulled pork.  Not as good as Starnes but pretty darn good.

She collects them but as we don't travel at all she is limited to the same old ones we get here and the collection hasn't grown for sometime now. -a Meatloaf Pan (the kids were gonna get me one for Christmas, been talkin bout gettin one)
-a bag of premium coffee (not much of a coffee drinker but made a pot this morn, not bad)
-a pair of cleaning up my mess gloves (the kids say I look good in them)
-a bread knife (now my wife can cut a straight slice of bread)

I have been swamped at work so I was pretty stoked to hear that the post man had came by bringing a box!  I can't wait to try out the pepper / garlic seasoning ... I'm thinking peppered shrimp next weekend.  I wish I had the Thermometer 2 weeks ago though ~ I put my Turducken out in the beverage refrigerator to defrost and after 2 days still being rock solid I figured I had a problem ..... It kept beverages cold during the summer in the 100 degree temps but in the winter it was running at 32.  Now I just have to remember to adjust it again next spring (The visual cue will help).

I too have one of those insert meatloaf pans and LOVE it.  I could not believe the difference not having the meat sitting in the grease made.

I do not have the fancy pan but I have always crumpled up a piece of foil to put under the loaf so its raised up and the fat can drain away. I think it makes a much better meatloaf than sitting in the fat/juices. Cool idea for the pan.  :)

First and Foremost I want to Thank Gus Robin for his generous gifts. They are amazing and I look forward to using them real soon. The one that stood out and made me laugh was the nick saban sauce.. Based upon your screen name I just had to send the Nick Saban sauce when I saw it. The gunpower rub is great on steaks, beef, pork and the red rub was supposedly made for chicken (as is the white sauce). I had to repackage the rubs because they come in a flimsy container not suitable for packing.

Bobby is being nice and didn't mention the fact that I was so busy packaging all this that I forgot to include my name in the package. Had to PM him and let him know it was on the way.

I figured as much Gus. lol.. I woke up this morning and read all the bottles again. Excited about giving these a shot.. the gunpowder has a very distinct taste and has me very curious on what to try this on. they are all perfect and right up my alley.

I got home from work today and saw a package on the front porch. My first thought was a package that Mrs. Jan was waiting on had arrived. Well I came in through the garage and went to the front door and bent down to pick it up. It was heavy and for me...yea!

The first thing I did was go get the bathroom scale and see what this box weighted (31.4 lbs). My gosh!

The mojo and the jerk is good on pork and chicken, the everglades heat is good on everything, including eggs.

When you marinate in the liquid mojo don't go more than 4 hours, overnight will get a little strong.

The Key west looked good I haven't tried yet.

All that is left of the Blue fron BBQ is the sauce, the building is empty...

LOL, I pulled a GusRobin myself. They will know who the package is from but i forgot the card on the counter and after wrapping with Purple duct tape i didn't want to break back into the goodies. So i left a message CajunBoudreaux was here  ;)...

I'm guilty as well. I made a card to put in the box and ended up wrapping it and off to the post office. At the PO I realized the card was still at home and borrowed a sharpie and wrote on the outside of the box who I was. Hope they see it. LOL

We have this little bit of confusion every year. The reason we set a $25 limit is we wanted a basic guideline for folks to follow. Figuring a $25 gift and most everyone uses a $10.95 USPS flat rate shipper. You as the sender could expect a $25 gift for the $25 gift you sent out.

However that usually only applies the first year you are involved with this whole ordeal. The next years you start gathering and hoarding stuff in January just waiting to send it out 20 minutes after I send you the name in late November. I hope this all makes sense.

We have this little bit of confusion every year. The reason we set a $25 limit is we wanted a basic guideline for folks to follow. Figuring a $25 gift and most everyone uses a $10.95 USPS flat rate shipper. You as the sender could expect a $25 gift for the $25 gift you sent out.

However that usually only applies the first year you are involved with this whole ordeal. The next years you start gathering and hoarding stuff in January just waiting to send it out 20 minutes after I send you the name in late November. I hope this all makes sense.

If Nepas has a sweet tooth, We were in Atlanta last summer and headed north toward North Carolina.  Just north of Atlanta on the east side of the road was a family run farmers market.  The place was great.  They also had home made ice cream and fresh Apple Fritters.  The fritters may have been the best dessert item that I have ever eaten in my life.  Good spot for Team Nepas to go.

Fajitas are great but if you really heat up the platters and undercook the the steak a bit (if you like Med. Rare) cook to rare and put on the platter at 500+ degrees and add some garlic-butter and all of the sudden you have a Ruth Chris's steak at medium rare at 25% the cost!  Take Care Steven and Merry Christmas!

Snelly was hoping that I didn't have pig tails and I don't (at least not since I was like 5 anyways ;D )   I can't wait to tryeverything especially the Pat's Ho-Made BBQ Sauce  - what Snelly probably doesn't know is that I can't eat most bbq sauces because they contain worcestershire or anchovies - this ingredient label is clear of those  :)

Glad you got it.

Tried to collect things local from the travels.  The maple syrup, honey and wine can from my wife's hometown area.  The wine is a table wine  (not sure what that means)  for the team on the label, a local hockey team.  Hoping the sugar, syrup and honey would work as ingredients.  With the recipe you have multiple choices for the syrup, liquid or powder :D  The cheese is a local cheese from the Ottawa (Canada that is).

Really pay attention to the flavor list.  Quite a few aren't kid friendly and a couple can blow the unsuspected head off.  You are also a braver man than me to come between a woman and chocolate.

Well I was thinking that I was going to get the short end of the deal on this Christmas Gift Excange. I sent my gifts out in good order via express mail (I was so excited!) Then I hovered over the mailbox day after day for my parcel to arrive ... but it didn't. Honestly - I was getting kind of sad. Was I going to be the first guy ever to get a rock in the gift exchange thing?

Anyway I AM SO EXCITED BEACUSE MY GIFT BOX FINALLY ARRIVED! YEAH!

I was getting worried with the mail and season. But feel better now. He sent me a letter thanking me and said he'll post when wife gets camera home. This time of year you just never know if it will get there or not!

Robb I am sorry it took me so long. I have been putting in way too many hours on the road and as I had to make your bench hook cutting board it took me a bit. Also that is why I hand delivered.
So the idea of that board is it hooks on the edge of the counter.
As for the gift limit, I came in pretty close with bargain shopping.  ;) ;)
The Rosemary carrots I made this summer and they are awesome. I had never made them before so I thought I would try it. Funny cause I don't even care for rosemary.
The sauce is the coveted CT sauce, you are going to want more. I have been thinking about getting a new order going in January. Robb you likely don't know,  but you can only get that way down south in Carolina. Early this year I got an order together and had 8 cases shipped to my wife's aunts in Blaine, then I brought them up here and distributed them to members who ordered some all across Canada. Once you try the CT sauce you will probably get in on it. That is the best especially on pork butts.
The injector, I had on good authority that you might want one. LOL For those who don't know, Robb got my name and I guess there was an odd number of canucks cause I got his name too. He mentioned he needed one.
As for talking you into this exchange, I wondered if would you catch on to that. LOL. Anyways, Merry Christmas to you and yours and hope you enjoy it all.

As I was leaving to bow hunt this evening I found a package at my door.  Inside were some awesome items sent to me by Chili Head.  Thanks John and may you and yours have a Merry Christmas.  I got Macadamia Caramel Nut Clusters, Donkey Balls (Chocolate covered macadamias), Galeos Miso-Ginger- and Wasabi sauce, 3 Eyz BBQ rub, Soileaus, Blues Hog BBQ Sauce, Gun Powder Seasonong, Tony Chacheres, Hot Squeeze - Sweet Heat Chipotle Sauce, and Doug McCains Gourmet BBQ sauce.  I need to figure out what to use the Galeos and Hot Squeeze on.  IS soileaus a rub or more of a seasoning like Tony Chacheres?  Thanks again.

I brought the macadamia nuts and donkey balls back from our Hawaii Vacation. Them chocolate covered nuts are awesome! You won't be disappointed! The soileaus isn't a rub it's more of a spicy seasoning made here in Illinois. The hot squeeze is really good on meatloaf, ribs and chicken. The gun powder seasoning is great on everything! It gives a smokey grill taste on whatever you use it on. I've even used it on pop corn :D . Take that blues hog and thin it with a little apple juice and use the 3eyz on some ribs..awesome!
The others are sauces I use regularly and are tasty!

A bottle of Canjun butter. Always wanted to try this one and here is my excuse.

And some of SnC's custom rub and 2 from Club house.

Sailor, you are more than welcome my friend.  I  hope you enjoy experimenting with all the different goodies.
I am a big fan of the jambalaya mix.  One thing I will tell you. The instructions say to use water or lightly seasoned stock.  I opt for water as the mix has plenty of salt.  Some stocks have quite a bit of salt in them and can make the dish quite salty.

Been anxious to try the Gun Powder Seasoning and now I can.  Tasted the Gun Powder and boy, does it ever have an interesting taste.  There's quite a mixture there!!  If that BBQ Rub from Star Market is half as good as the Gun Powder it's going to be great.

I have to say living in 4 States ( Louisiana,Georgia,Arizona, and Texas) as an adult and being in the bbq community I thought i have seen alot.. You guys have really stepped up and gave some amazing gifts. you all deserve a pat on the back..Cudos to everyone.
The gift I shipped got distroyed by UPS(UPS SUCKS by the way) and i have been arguing with them and still awaiting an answer on a package that shipped Dec7th. Those monkeys instead of opening the package to see what leaked discarded (threw away) the entire package in which it was next to impossible for certain things to get ruined. But like i said they haven't"updated their system" to beable to tell me what happened. I call HUH???

Anyways i have re-ordered almost everything and i am having packages drop shipped with deliveries starting tomorrow. Picking the last bit of things this weekend to send then out on Monday. So to my gift recipient my deepest apologies as you haven't received your gifts yet. But I promise you will be an feel like a Cajun when i am done. Everything should be there by Christmas... Thanks for Understanding...

Gee that sucks and yes so does UPS. I would never ship with them again. I ordered a guitar once online and it was destroyed. You would think when you see a a box that is obviously a guitar and says "fragile Guitar" that you might be careful with it.

Beware of those cg's (the grill on the maverick box) they are junk i own two they work great for Grills do not attempt to make one into a smoker buy the time you make all these mods to get a good seal on it its not worth the doller. i tried everything to seal mine still leaks!!!! thats why i own a bs lol Now i have parts for another smoker soon to be made  ;D my (hybrid smoker)

Sorry to hear about the package Bobby. Living in Alaska I  know all to well about the idiots at the shipping companies. Last year I mailed a card to a friend and shipped a package Fed X overnight. The card made it to him in the regular mail faster than the package!!!  >:(  :o

You are very welcome Ross. I checked the tracking number yesterday and it said the box was still in Mississausage which is 10 km down the road from me. Man I thought you all were going to read about me in the paper. So I am very happy to see you got it in time. I hope you like all the home made stuff. Unfortunately the olives aren't as hot as I wanted but they were made from fresh raw olives and they keep getting better with time. Not sure if you have watched any of the new Bradley vids with chef Ted Reader but the Bone Dust rub is his recipe and I have put it together with self toasted and ground spices. It has good heat and is a star on poultry and pork butts!

Squirt... That Cool tomato bbq sauce.... hmmmm yeah.... Inject inject oh yeah and then inject then cover chicken with frenches yellow mustard then sprinkle cajun seasoning then grill over a cheap can of beer.. I dont remember where or how i got a jar of that but it was amazing.. i think the label was a little different but looks the same.. nice package.

The only thing not pictured are the pair of hot gloves ( wife absconded with them and hid them ::) and one container of Tony Chachere's that was KIA due to the U.S. Post Office - but, the box smelled great - even before opening! ;D

The Butt Crack Rub is really garlicky - love it. Have not had much time to explore the others yet - but all of it is a wonderful gesture.

wow the cooler stayed in great shape your very welcome fire slayer. traditionally we eat are bologna with some vegetable spread/butter slice of american cheese between too pieces of bread you will find or you can try that dried beef in some white gravy its awesome (that way for breakfest) . the way they smoke it is in oak made sheds all of it or they traditionally did i think they may have change but the quality is the same.

I'm glad the package arrived safely.  I'm intending to take the pictures of my bootie in the next day or two and post them.  I hope you enjoy the Toast Mix as much as we do.  When I bake cookies for the Blood Drives at the Knights of Columbus Hall, I take Pillsbury Sugar Cookie dough, roll it into a ball about the size of a small meatball and roll it in a bowl of the mix.  I've never had a complaint. 
 
Let me know what you and your friends think of the Mytopoff bottle opener.......it sure has saved my hand!!!

IT FINALLY ARRIVED!! 

And all I can say is WOW, and THANK YOU!
My gift came all the way from Calgary, and was sent by Bavind.  In the box was a great haul of sausage spices, some of which Bavind told me
the recipes were around 200 years old! :o  The were passed down from father to son, how cool is that.  Also in the box was a very awesome
grinder of German barbecue spice mix, all the way from KaDaWe Berlin.  That is so cool, and it taste great!!  Next up is a shaker of BACON SALT
I have seen this before and always wanted to try it...It's bacon and salt how can that be bad?????  That brings us to the Club House "wild whiskey smoked BBQ"
seasoning, funny I sent one of these to Lumpy with my gift because I LOVE it so much.  Now I have smoked salt before but never for 30....that's right 30HRS.
The color of this salt is so much darker that any I have ever done, I just know it is going to be excellent.  The last item is a bottle of Cattle Boyz "honey hot BBQ sauce"
I have never seen this stuff before, finger test tells me it is going to be very good on chicken and pork!

He posted that fact on the register post so I sent him a PM to see if he would like to do a private swap with me. He was in like a dirty shirt so it was on. Same rules. So he sent me one and then I sen.....no I didn't..I got sick. I had the worst flu I have had in years and spent all last week in bed or on the couch. Since I was making part of his gift I had to drag my butt to the shop to finish it. Then friday I felt just slightly 2 hair thicknesses above an insect so I managed to get across the border to mail his gift. BL thank you for your patience. Now to the gift he sent me. Quarlow thanks for doing this with me!  It was great to be able to exchange gifts again this year.  With the baby almost here I forgot all about signing up but will remember next year (hopefully  ;D)

Had to go home at lunch and BAM! there was my gift. I was able to bring it in the house and open the card before grabbing what I needed and head back to work. Thanks Garth and Merry Christmas to you and all of yours. I can't wait to open and take pictures but because we are leaving for Florida at 4am tomorrow morning and have way tooo much to do to prepare to leave on time, I won't be able to open and take pictures till I return. The suspense is too much!!

I know I got popcorn as Garth did say that in his card that the popcorn that I received is supporting Scouts and that is excellent to know. I support youth groups whenever I can.

I finally got to opening "the box".  My gift was from the Seemores, Scott and June Butts.  It included a nice card and a note explaining where the items came from.  It was an extremely thoughtful collection of goodies.  This makes my Christmas.  (Debbie is getting me socks  :-\ )  OK, on with the pics.

I GOT IT!!!!!!! Thank you Mike H! (don't know the forum name)  I was getting sad that I was left out, 10.5 said basically to hang in that it was shipped.  All I can say is I was speechless with the kindness of the sender.  I am not a fan of flavored coffees but the "Chipotle Chocolate" smelled so fantastic that I brewed up some, it is outstanding.  I can't wait to try all the seasonings and the sauces!  The knife is awesome!  The fork is so strong and sturdy.  I tell you I'm speechless!!!  Thanks so much!

Some of you know that Cajunboudreaux had me in the Exchange and the shipper destroyed the shipment.  Not to be discouraged, Bobby reproduced the entire the shipment by having the suppliers ship directly to me.  2 out of 3 boxes have been delivered.  One more to come but I want to share one little teaser of a pic.  Some of you know that Jan and I are huge fans of New Orleans and all things that have to do with the Louisiana lifestyle and food.  Who better to draw my name than my Cajun cousin Bobby. What a great day it turned out to be! Even though I'm stuck out of town working it was a nice day thanks to Tim and Karen aka Cobra6223. Ann called and said a wonderful package of goodies arrived. I can't post pictures until I get home after the first. Sorry folks.

I will second the sentiments. Chris and Sonny, Thank you so much for orchestrating this exchange. This is such a great deal to be apart of.
Iceman, I hate that you can't be home for the holidays with your loved ones. I got held up one year when a rush load on the east coast wasn't ready to load in time and I ended up 2 days away from home for xmas. I know how you feel , it was the worst year ever.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you friend.

I can now reveal the entire Exchange that Jan and I received from cajunboudreaux.  Let me say this first, when Bobby does something, he really does something. 3 different boxes arrived from 3 different places in Louisiana and Bobby lives in AZ!
First a box from Ville Platte LA. A collection of Walker and Sons "Slap Ya Mama" goodies. The two taller boxes in the back contain a box of cajun seasoned fish fry breading and a bottle of their cajun pepper sauce.

Next, from Port Barre LA.  A collection of all kind of goodies from Bourque's Supermarket.  Bottom row L to R is Bourque's seafood boil mix, cajun seasoning and fish fry coating mix.  Upper row L to R is Bourque's Liquid Boil, pickled quail eggs, hot sauce and cajun BBQ sauce.

Well I finally got back home and had the pleasure of seeing the wonderful gifts that we received from Cobra6223. Thanks again for the goodies folks.

The hat and shirt are MINE!!! ;D I guess when I make the snack sticks and use the BBQ rub I'll share it with the boss lady  ;)

I had some of the salmon rub on frozen salmon burgers today and it was so good!  Made the frozen fish pop.

Tenpoint has not received. I have been informed that the gift was on back order which I had known about. When the gift became available again. The price had doubled. I told the sender not to worry about it. Was hoping it would slide by unnoticed and I wouldn't have to say anything.

Sonny did receive his gift But was spending a lot of time out at the deer hunting camp
