Title: Turkey Success
Post by: kickedback on November 24, 2011, 05:54:24 PM
I smoked my 1st whole turkey today, 13 lbs. Mother-in-law asked early in the week if I wanted to smoke one, so I decided to give it a try. I used this buttermilk brined recipe that I got from   http://www.smoking-meat.com/november-10-2011-smoked-buttermilk-brined-turkey.html
I used Jan's Spicy Rub instead of the one it called for and smoked my garlic, for the butter, with apple when I was doing some cheese.
I gave it 4 hours of Cherry and ended up finishing it in the oven. It turned out pretty good, the garlic was a little overpowering. I used 2 heads of garlic, 1 would have been fine.

I love Garlic so that wouldn't be a problem. Good looking eats for sure.
