Title: Rock'n Rib Rub
Post by: OU812 on January 23, 2012, 06:06:23 PM
I was kickin around a name for this rub and Dave (Grnhs) came up with the perfect name for it.

"Curts Rock Rib Rub" but sounds better just "Rock'n Rib Rub"  ;D

Thanks Dave.

I gave some of this rub to Dave for our Christmas exchange this year and he made up some killer ribs with it then asked if I would share.

Y'all give this a shot and see if ya like it.

1/2 cup fine sea salt (or table salt with out the Iodine, Iodine will impart a metallic taste)
1/2 cup black pepper (I use Butchers grind)
1/2 cup Hungary half sharp paprika
3/4 cup Worcestershire powder (this is what makes it become a solid if it sits around very long)
1/4 cup cayenne pepper
1/4 cup granulated garlic
2 Tbl granulated onion
2 Tbl ground celery seed (use celery seed not ground celery, the seed has better flavor)

That it,,,,,,,,,,,,,hope ya like it,,,,,,,,,I do.  ;D

1/2 cup Hungary half sharp paprika
1/4 cup cayenne pepper

Holy crap!

I think that Penzey's Hungarian Half Sharp is even hotter than straight-up Cayenne...    :o

Thanks Curt.
The rub is wonderful, spicy, and great flavor.
Just what the Dr ordered.
The 'rock rub' came from having to take a hammer to it to use it after you vac sealed it and it solidified ;D
