Title: Smoke generator question
Post by: bostonsmoker on March 17, 2012, 07:26:26 AM
Just got the new smoker!!!! Putting it together, the smoke generator is not fitting tightly to the smoker tower. the pins are aligned but it seems like its resting on the pins rather than attached to them. I'm pushing down firmly and its not moving any more. During the seasoning smoke i saw a small but steady stream of smoke coming out of the connection between the generator and the tower. Thoughts on how to remedy, or is this normal? Thank you.

The smoke generator sort of "hangs" on those pins and the fit isn't a really tight fit where you wouldn't see daylight between the walls of the generator and the tower.  If you're seeing smoke between the tower and the generator that means your smoke is "backing up" into the generator.  Open the vent until you no longer see the smoke between the generator and the tower.  Smoke backing up into the generator will eventually destroy the generator.  DON'T run the smoke generator with the vent closed.
