ok i did this like the Bradley site said ..went out bought the whiskey Oak wood and all the trimmings no pic of the final product as they went in a heart beat .. BUT MY GOD THEY ARE GOOD ..side note will inject the butter into the scallops more than 1 time next

So I let the smoke hit and temp rise at the same due to the fact I had used it the day before with different wood ...... cranked it to 260 ...smoked out the complex I live in ...ate awesome scallops

Explain to me how you manage to take a pic of yourself when your using both hands already ;D.
You must be using the ole, throw the camera up in the air with a delay timer set to go of when it sees your profile right smack in the middle of the view finder trick. ;D ??? :o

I have been wanting to try bacon wrapped scallops for a while, but was afraid the bacon would not get done before the scallops were too done.
the temp at 260 how long did they take??
and was the bacon crisp?
i am guessing that the butter kept them from drying out?

260 took 45 mins to hit IT of 145 and they were ready
Bacon wasnt super crisp but had that smoker bark to it if you get what I mean ..and yes im thinking the butter did exactly that mate ...do it !!!!! goto the bradley website check the you tube vid for smoked scallops !!!!!!
One other question,
what rack were they on
top,second, or third?

Pretty sure the wife took over the camera to have record that she married a deranged mad man. :) If she lived in the South she would start the stories with "Y'all aren't gonna believe this sh!t but I've got the photos to prove it". Nice! I bet if you put the bacon in the (hot) smoker for about 30-45 minutes to pre-cook a bit, it would end up almost perfect when the scallops were done. (I've seen similar recipes where they microwave it in advance) Worth a shot!

That was kinda runnin' through my head too.
also i was thinking if you clarify the butter with a few light spices before you inject it could really ramp it up... just a thought.

If cutting your own bacon try very thin slices for wrapping the scallops. Short time in microwave or
simmering water will also give bacon a head start.
I gave this a try but did not have the Jack in the house or jack pucks. I used Wild Turkey Honey and dumped a little on the top of some hickory pucks. Turned out great.
I am SOOOOOOO doing these this weekend. I think I'm going to put old bay in the butter and then top off the scallops with old bay near the end. May cook the bacon for a short while before I cook together. The wife hates rubbery bacon but I like it!
