Title: Turkey time
Post by: SiFumar on June 07, 2012, 05:11:33 PM
Bought a turkey breast last month and threw in freezer.  Took it out 2 days ago to thaw.  Mixed up a batch of Smokehouse Rob's Apple juice turkey brine (made half batch as just was a turkey breast.)http://www.susanminor.org/forums/showthread.php?21-Apple-Juice-Turkey-Brine-by-Smokehouse-Rob

After getting the breast ready to brine I looked at the tag....I can kick myself because I didn't look at the price when I bought it!  If I knew it was $1.69 a lb I would have got more!

Brine rinsed off, patted dry, and a sprinkle of Jan's Rub(can't have no poultry with out it)and put in fridge to dry overnight.  Plan is to start the butt with apple for 1 hour then add the turkey for 3 more hrs of smoke.

Also made batch of BBQ sauce

Turkey is done!  Didn't worry about crisp skin, this is going for sandwiches mostly.
