Title: should these wires be connected.

hello.  Just got brand new smoker tried to season it and was not getting any smoke from sg.  tried 2 different times,  so i looked on here and read how to open up sg and this is what i saw.  shoulld these wires be connected.  i think they should.  thought i would ask on here. Dont know how to post pic.  there are 2 wires with guick connect. brown and blue they plug into the other end and those wires are both black.

i plugged the 2 wires together and it is now smoking. got it seasoned and smoked a couple of chicken breasts,
