Title: Heating Element Went Out
Post by: LanduytG on December 07, 2013, 07:14:28 AM
Was having issues with maintaining temps the other day. Then it would not get over 100 deg. Did some checking and the element is bad. The smoker is only 6 months old. Bradley is sending me another element. I had another element here because I was going to do the 2 element mod. Do these elements go out very often? I hope it was just a fluke.

I think it's probably luck of the draw, some here have had the same element for years and others have had problems with theirs.

If you have a multimeter check the resistance across the element with one or both wires disconnected from it.  A working element should read around 27-32 ohms.  Sometimes a loose plug or wire somewhere is misdiagnosed as a bad element.

Check the element and its defiantly bad 6.3 meg ohms.
