Title: Dummy Briquettes for Advancing
Post by: BailrJail on January 03, 2015, 07:33:10 AM
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use for dummy (non combustible) briquettes? Would like to use two to help advance the briquettes.

Welcome ! Yard and Pool sell Bubba Pucks, which is what some folks use for this purpose. Some also make their own version, using aluminum pipe of the same diameter as a brickette. If you make your own, make sure you file the edges so the don't stick on the advance chute.

Auber Instruments also sells these.  They are the ones I have.

I also use the ones from auber. they work very well just have to clean them and good to go. They also work as a heat sink after the smoke just keep the burner going.

I got some scrap cutoff new muffler pipe that was the right diameter and cut them to the right thickness and they have been working great, best of all they were free.
