Did my first batch today with sweet onions sea salt. Neighbors came over and now I need to make more I think its a big hit.

                                                             Onion Sea Salt
                                                                  Recipe

2              3" to 4" Onions     " Standard Sweet, Walla Walla, Maui, or any other onion of that size "
2lbs          Pacific Coarse Sea Salt
4              8 oz Clear Glass Round Jars (Cork & Wooden Spoon

Directions:

Slice onions 1/8" thick. Place on dehydrator racks I use a Mr. Coffee dehydrator, I leave them in over night they should be done in the morning. Break them up and run them through a coffee mill till you have powder. Mix with 2lbs of Coarse sea salt. Place in glass jars with cork lids.

Very interesting. I've never tried onion infused salt. Infused salts add a very interesting layer of  flavor to your foods at the table. The combinations of flavored salts are endless. I've been giving them as gifts for several years.

Where do you get your jars?

Great Idea! I have been dehydrating my own onion varieties for years. It is great to just throw some flakes in the recipe instead of chopping every time and you can buy yellow onion flakes but not red or white.  Adding them to the salt would be interesting.

...also if you are going to try this don't do it in the house! Very stinky!

They are small about 2.5 inch's that's why I went with 8 of them, there was some that didn't go into the dryer so they went in today they will just be chopped.
