Title: ham help
Post by: manfromplaid on April 11, 2015, 01:06:55 PM
I read about double smoking a store bought ham and said to SWMBO that we should give it a try. yesterday she went shopping and brought home a small 4# smoked precooked. after reading the label I find it is only smoke flavor added. going to smoke it tomorrow. anyone have any hints or tips. I know to bring IT to 140-145 just looking for some ideas for a glaze and cook time and temps.

Checkout the Traeger site.  They have several glaze receipes from a basic honey glaze to really exotic.

You might try the user recipe site and read through of the ham recipes and see if you get any ideas from those.

going with a simple glaze. used Basswood honey from cedar creek apiaries which I picked up (Guttenberg iowa ) on my travels home last summer from Iowa. mixed with minute maid orange concentrate -just enough water to thin the honey- in a tin pan glazed-1hr40 of apple  250 deg. and will finish in the house if it needs it.
