Title: Inline fuse
Post by: michsmoker on May 02, 2015, 12:42:14 PM
Does anyone know if the length of the silver wires coming out of the inline fuse matters? I am replacing the rest of the wires in the smoke cabinet and was wondering if I could just clip them next to the connectors that attach the 18 gauge wire to the fuse, or will I have to pry the connectors open?
Thanks in advance!

MS, I don't think the length matters.  When I had to replace an inline fuse in my six rack, I didn't want to fuss with disconnecting the inline fuse at the heating element.  So after I removed the back panel from my smoker,  I cut off the old inline fuse wire between the fuse segment and the heating element.  I crimped spade connectors onto the old wire and the new wire.  Plugged the two wires together.  And made sure the new connection was well insulated so it wouldn't short out.  It's been working fine that way for a couple of years now.
