Title: just smoked my first turkey.

Hi everyone, just smoked my first turkey, it was around 17 lbs, I used a brine off youtube, 2L of orange juice, 2L of apple juice, cup of kosher salt, cup of brown sugar, some all spice cloves. let it brine for 12 hours

I preheated my Bradley electric smoker to 225, and started cooking at 9am with cherry smoke.

the first 2 hours the temp went from 46 to 100 and I thought I was gonna be screwed for a 5pm supper, but the temp slowed down. I smoked it for 4 hours, and the final cooking time was 8.5 hours to 165 degrees.  I did not put it in the oven, solely cooked it in the Bradley.  The turkey was amazing, all my family loved it, it was super juicy and tasty.  The skin was a bit of a miss, but the meat under the skin was amazing.

Glad to hear you are happy with your results.

Your miss on the skin is normal.  A Bradley doesn't get hot enough to fully render the fat under the skin on poultry.  So the skin doesn't crisp up like it does at higher temps.  Some folks will apply smoke to their turkey, then move the turkey to the oven and higher temps to finish the cooking and crisp the skin.

For the leftover smoked turkey, try some bowtie pasta, some pesto, turkey, and a hand full of walnuts for some crunch.  It's enough of a favorite at our house that we intentionally make leftovers.

This summer OneDrive changed the way one stores information on their drive. I ran into that problem back around June. Since then I couldn't link a permanent URL to photos. Until Microsoft goes back to using static drive, you can not use their links for forums. You may want to read the following link:
