Title: Seasoning New Smoker
Post by: Doug in Alaska on May 19, 2016, 11:34:47 AM
My new Bradley Original arrived yesterday and the Cold Smoker Adapter is scheduled to be here this afternoon.  I plan to do most, if not all of my smoking using the cold smoke adapter.  I've just read the instructions for seasoning and the tower should be brought up to 150ºF and smoked in for an hour.  Of course, this will be impossible to do using the cold smoke adapter.  Do you recommend I attach the smoke generator to the tower, season, and then attach the cold smoke adapter for use?
Thanks much.

My smoker is set up in a garden shed so I leave my smoke gen hooked to the cold smoke adapter permanently. If I hot smoke I turn cabinet heater on. It works well this way. To season attach the smoke gen to the cabinet.

Yes, Doug.  Season your smoker without using the cold smoke adapter.  Then add the adapter for cold smoking.

The purpose of the seasoning process is to clean residue from the manufacturing process out of your smoker before you process any food in it.
