Title: Smart smoker issues
Post by: Wopper on January 27, 2017, 11:26:56 AM
Hey guys. Just upgraded from the big chief to the smart smoker. I have done a few things and have also run some temperature tests to see how the unit holds its temperature.  Anybody with this unit have the same issues?
Probe 1 suspended from top about halfway down.
Probe 2 on lowest rack
Heres the results:
1)Time 10:48
Set 250'
Actual 253'
P1 251'
P2 260'

2) Time 10:58
Set 250'
Actual 226'
P1 194'
P2 199'

It takes another 15 mins or so to get back up to Set temp then begins the drop again.
I understand there should be a drop but 55-60' degrees same like the unit is losing massive heat somewhere. The internal one obviously doesn't fluctuate as much because it's on the wall.
Any comments. Thanks in advance!

I just got the same smoker and had the same temperature changes.  When it does that what is the actual meat temperature?
