Can you put 2 of the 500w elements in series and they work properly?

Thank you..
Which would be better, series or parallel?

In series is what I did when I added the second 500 watter.
Get some high temp wire, some ring terminals and you're halfway there. Toughest part was cutting a notch on both sides of the ceramic insulators for wire clearance. If you have everything laid on when you start, it's about an hour job or less, depending on how fast you can cut those notches

Hi Brian, here's a link to a thread detailing a second 500 watt element installation. I recommend putting them in parallel, if one burns out the other will still work.

I wired mine in parallal.  I used 2 pieces of 3-4" high temp wire, some uninsulated ring terminals and just connected both elements together at each end.   I have a PID controller inside the SG to control the temp.  It is recommended that if you go higher than the 500W that the Bradley was designed and tested to handle you should use a PID controller.

There are "how-to" articles on adding a second element.  Below are several links to them.

If you want pics, you need to d/l the entire recipe site database.  You'll need Recipe_v5 and GSReader v2.8 in the thread below.
