Title: Very confused with my smoker
Post by: RBark on September 24, 2017, 11:23:15 AM
I have the BTDS76P that I inherited from my father.

It hadn't been used in years when I received it, so I've had to play around with it a little but I'm very confused now.

If I turn the smoker on, it engages. The temperature rose internally to 85 degrees.

I needed 100-120 degrees for a salmon recipe. So I turned the oven on to 120 degrees.

When I do that, it rises uncontrolled all the way past 120 (hit 170).

It's not retaining the heat - if I turn it off once it hits 120 degrees it will not continue to rise, so it seems obvious that even when it reads a temperature of 120+ degrees, it isn't telling the heating element to shut off.

Thoughts/advice?

Nevermind.. I guess it now is okay with controlling the temperature.

Hi RBark;

Welcome to the forum.

If you don't have the manual the link below will take you to it. The manual covers all models, so you need to scroll down to the digital section.
