Title: Hello All
Post by: Rbiegans on October 30, 2017, 12:14:09 PM
Just got my digital smoker and finished seasoning it per the directions. My first question. The directions stated to set the oven temp at 150 and smoke for an hour. I noticed the internal oven temp rose to about 169 through the smoking process. (makes since sine the smoker plate must throw off heat to burn the bisquettes) If a recipe calls for a temp of 225, should I factor in the heat from the burner to total 225 or set the oven to 225 and let the heat rise to what ever? I've pretty good with my Weber grill but I'm looking forward to my first smoking recipe and plan to visit this forum a lot!

Hi Rbiegans;

Welcome to the forum.

Just set the temperature to 225°F. The temperature sensor in the Bradley monitors the air total air temperature in the cabinet, no matter if the bisquette burner is on, or from additional heat you will get on a sunny day, with the sun shining on the cabinet. Keep in mind that the temperature controller is not the best, so you may get temperature fluctuations up to +/-40°F your set temperature.
