Title: E 1 error message
Post by: Jim O on December 11, 2017, 01:09:16 PM
Just setting up my seven year digital four rack to do a turkey tomorrow. Checked functions of SG and received an E 1 message. This has never happened before. Checked all connections etc.
The outside temp was -10 C .and the SG was in the garage. Could the cold effect the SG ?

It might. Did you check the sensor cord going from the smoker to the smoke generator? I live in Minnesota and if I am not going to use my smoker I take my PID and my smoke generator in the house because they are digital.

HI Jim

Yes the cold weather can affect the temperature sensor in the smoker.
Bring the smoker and generator inside the house for a bit and then try it again, or try a hair dryer on the temp sensor inside the tower.

Brian.
