Title: 2nd Element & Auber WS-1211GPH - setup query
Post by: mpneumann on November 11, 2018, 04:26:18 PM
Hi,

I just modified my Bradley digital 4 rack smoker... I added a second 500 watt heating element.  I know I need to run auto tune (i have an Auber WS-1211GPH).

Do I need to make a change to any other PID settings (like changing 500 watts to 1000 watts)?

Thanks,
Michael

500 watts P=70 ( or 7 ) depending of your pid.
1000 watts P=140 ( or 14 ) depending of your pid.

Thanks I'll try that.  I've run the auto tune and I'm getting frustrated.... the pid holds the temperature perfectly at about twenty degrees below what I set it to!   If I set it to 250, it heats to 230 and stays there. If I set it at 275, it holds around 250.  Frustrating!

With these settings, I have about 2-3 degrees difference

I'll try your p value.  Any idea why it's staying 20 degrees below set value?  Seems weird

No sorry, I've only tried what I've been told and it worked out good.

All I can say is that my vent is wide open and my ambiant probe is always under the lowest rack of food. Make sure no wind or at least as possible.
