Hi Houser82;

Welcome to the forum.

What I did was to run the Bradley without using any smoke for about an hour at around 200°F to 225°F; to burn off any manufacturing oils. The temperature is not critical. After the initial burn off, make sure the water bowl has water in it, and load the chute with five bisquettes to apply one hour of smoke. Three will actually burn, and the other two are just pushers to get the third bisquetted to the burner. If you don't already have them do an internet search for Bradley puck savers, they are more convient to loading the extra two bisquettes. The type of bisquettes you use to apply smoke doesn't matter.
