Title: P10 Smoke Flavor
Post by: Habanero Smoker on August 14, 2020, 01:47:32 AM
This is a question for those that have upgraded their previous Bradley to the P10. Maybe it my taste buds changing as I age, but the smoke flavor I'm getting from the P10 seems stronger than the smoke flavor I got from my Old Original Bradley (OBS), and I was wondering if others are noticing the same? I find I have to reduce my smoke times. I'm going to have to fire up the ole OBS to compare the taste.

I always believed that the smoke flavor you get from the Bradley was mainly due to the temperature the bisquettes burn - not so much the 20 minute burn time. The other Bradley's use a single 125w burner to burn the bisquettes. The P10 is using two 100w burners to burn the bisquettes, and I'm wondering it the extra heat is causing the difference in taste. Or since the bisquettes burn more completely in the P10 than it does in my OBS, this may be making the difference.

I smoked the ribs 2 different dishes.....and one of them taste strong smoke ...I would say kind a over smoke and other one was good perfect....I am not sure why...but the one with the strong flavor...I had vent damper half open...and other was open in full.
Smoking time for both was the same.

Thanks for the feedback, this kind of confirms my thoughts on the smoke flavor. All my cooks so far have been with the damper removed, so it was fully vented. I'm going to try reducing my smoke times by half, then work from there to see how that turns out.
