Title: Prime rib---help
Post by: swede on August 08, 2004, 08:20:22 PM
Brisket, Butt, Bacon, Cheese, all turned out tastier than a cheer leader on game day. Next in line is a 10lb prime rib. Do any of you smoke heads have any tips? Hate to ruin a chunk of meat that cost as much as my first car.------ Any idea how long it would take to cook med (140deg) with the bradley set at 200?

Swede...

I know this is a little late from your last post, but I just did a 7lb. prime rib last weekend. At 225 degrees, it took about 4 1/2 hours to finish a perfect medium rare. I used oak pucks on it (I didn't want to put too much smoke, so I only smoked for the first two hours or so -- perfect for my taste, and it didn't cover up the flavor of the meat). Gave it a rub of garlic/onion powder, salt (grey sea salt) and fresh ground black pepper. Even my 6-year old picky-eater nephew couldn't get enough of it...
