Title: 10 hours in cooler?
Post by: DEMAN on October 07, 2004, 04:34:40 PM
Has anyone ever wrapped and coolered a butt for 8 to 10 hours? Mine has been in 3 hours now but we are not eating till for a few hours yet. Anyone forsee any problems with this and do you think it will still be warm for pulling at that time?

D,

I would just keep checking. I have had them for at least 4hrs, if not longer and they still be blazing hot. I think if you keep them tightly wrapped with foil so the moisture doesn't excape, you could use the oven to keep them hot. But I bet they stay hot for along time-thow a couple of more towels in on top of them. I think the only way you might hurt them is to shred them now and put in a pan and try and rehear later. I personaly would keep them whole. Hay>where is kirk when you need him. He is the keeper of the flame for "Big Butts Over Bradley's"

Deman!
I have done a butt for 12 hrs. took it off at 12 noon wrapped it in Scran wrap, then foil the towels put it in the cooler. Took to my son's house went to pull it and it was too hot to pull by hand! Did a brisket at the same time with the same results too hot to cut by hand!
Should be no problem!
