Hi
this is my first post as I'm still very new to smoking. I'm trying to put a PID together and need a little help please.
I've got a unit and hope this will be suitable for the job, its a west model 6100 (not the plus)

can anyone tell me if I still need to use a relay ? From what I've read it already has a relay output, but I could be wrong.
I'm following the set-up below

I would be very grateful for any advise before I start to put it together.

Brit Somewhere on here someone had a pretty detailed instructions on how to build and install a PID into there Bradley. I haven't been able to find it yet but I'll keep looking for ya. Hopefully somebody else may know right where it is and will help us both out. meanwhile here's a couple to check out, this forum is full of ideas to help you out.

I'm not convinced that it has an SSR built in. I appears to me that it has 3 outputs that are to be conected to SSr's I could very well be wrong. Maybe Arc Spark could weigh in here. Good luck to you!
edit. I'm convinced that I have no idea what I'm talking about here. Hopefully somebody with some actua;l working knowledge of the wiring can help you. Sorry
brit01,
Welcome to the forum. Based upon the manual, it appears you have three output options.
1. Switched relay output
2. SSR drive output
3. Solid state output
The solid state output appears to be an internal SSR, but can only handle 1 amp. That is inadequate. Similarly, the switched relay output is rated at 2 amps, which is also inadequate. Best approach would be to use an external SSR and use the SSR drive output option. Observe polarity when hooking it up.

Hi and thank you all for your help and advice.
I've taken the advice of Arcs_n_Sparks and have just ordered a SSR, thanks Arcs_n_Sparks.
So its now time to sit and wait for the post.
I will report back when I get all the parts together, while I'm waiting I will be smoking some ribs and wings.
This is so much fun I'm surprised its legal ;D
