Title: Probe cleaning??
Post by: westexasmoker on May 11, 2008, 04:34:26 PM
This may sound like a stupid question, but ya'll have kinda gotten to know me and most of mine are stupid.  ::)  Whats the best way to clean your meat probe, just soap and water or do you ever sterilize with bleach.  I just do the soap and water (just now) and had this thought.  What is the forum thought on this????   ???

Westex

Not a stupid question at all. I fried a few TC's by not clearing them properly.
I always wipe/scrub the TC with soap and water right after use. You just want to make sure you don't submerge it or get water in where the wire meets the probe.

Little soap on the green scratchy thing in the sink for me. Makes it easy to clean without a lot of risk from water  ;D

I clean mine the same way WCK does. I cut a large piece of a green scouring pad into smaller pieces and use that the clean the probe. I have plenty of alchol wipes, so I use one to wipe it down after scouring.

Glad to see dual-use technology at work.   :D :D :D

Perhaps this means there is a market for ethanol wipes.   :o

I think Arcs just stirs his drink with probes to clean them....

Actually... that's a great idea!  ::)
