Title: Cold smoke setup test
Post by: carnie1 on February 19, 2009, 08:09:16 PM
Finally got to putter with the setup, I decided to go with the stack method

Just drilled a hole and presto , cold smoke box

Here's how my test went : Put Bradley up on bricks so weight would be off Plastic parts, Outside temp was 83 and smokers were in direct sunlight, probably should have put them in the shade, box temp was 110 before smoke, I put ice in both the Bradley bowl and the cold box bowl , both top side vents on the box wide open
I ran smoke for about 40 minutes and the temp didn't get above 113, so I figure I'll be OK by putting them out of direct sunlight and cold smoking on a cooler day,  might try tomorrow it's only supposed to be in the 70's

Looks like it will work, Carnie--what are you going to smoke for your first go with the setup?

Did a load of snack sticks yesterday, Outside temp was 73, I used no ice just to see what would happen, the box did not get above 95.
