Title: My Bradley arrived today
Post by: choko on March 08, 2009, 03:58:01 AM
Greetings from Wild, Wonderful, West  Virginia.
Ordered my OBS on Amazon on Thursday and arrived on Saturday.  I was not in any big hurry, in fact I used the free {Super Saver} shipping offer.  I am still waiting on my hickory pucks but, I am working nights so no rush.
It has been years since I used a smoker and I am excited about getting back into it.  Until my pucks arrive and I get off these dreadful night shifts I will lurk here and learn.  You folks know your smoke.
I have learned a lot already.

Greetings from North East PA

Glad you got your smoker. Why wait for the mail for your pucks, drive over to the WV Cabellas  ;D

Enjoy your forum browsing, remember there are no dumb questions here. Take pics if you can.

Congrats on your Bradley. You will love it once you used it.

Personally I like Texas style Brisket. Next is my T-Shirt-A-Smokin'-Boston-Butt. Not pulled pork, but slicein' pork.

Thanks for welcoming me.
WV Cabbellas is not an option right now.  I am working 12 hr shifts and will not have another night off for the next few weeks.  In this economy, I am not complaining.
I do have a few questions.
What do you consider Must haves for the OBS?
I have ordered a Maverick ET-73.  Is there anything else?
I would like to keep My OBS on my deck and not lug it into my garage after I use it.
Can anyone recommend a good cover?

Thanks again

Bradley does have covers for the different units.  If you go with the bradley covers get one for the 6 rack unit and you will get better length and coverage.

There are lots of different storage unit ideas on the forum here.  I wheel mine in and out of a 'rubber / plastic" shed.  Got it a Lowes or Home Depot.

Welcome and stay in touch!

WCK;

Bradley has started making the cover the the 4 rack longer again. A couple of months ago I had to purchase another cover (third one), and the fit is much better. The first cover a chunk of ice slid off the rood and sliced the cover. The second cover (which was made to short to protect the smoker), got torn because I was in a hurry. It was a cold morning (below 0°F); condensation had formed under the cover, and it froze the cover to the top of the smoker. While trying to get the cover off I pulled too hard and rip it at the seam.

I went to Gander Mt. and they only had the 4 rack cover, knowing I needed one immediately I had to purchase it. To my surprise, it was more then long enough to cover and protect my smoker. A better surprise is when they scanned the code bar, it rang up $9.95. :)

I had the same problem with mine.  Must be a northeast hazard :D

Got mine two months ago and more than ample in length.  Now Habs, you should be ashamed - you stole from Gander Mountain!  I think mine had a 2 in front of the $9.95!  CMEO

What can I say. I paid the price they requested.

Maybe if the people on the floor were a little friendlier, I might have (not) asked the clerk "Are you sure that is the right price?" ;)

Good news on the cover length ... I use a cover even though the smoker is in a shed... just seems right. But anyway, I sliced mine a few weeks ago and need a replacement.  Thanks again.

Thank God there are at least two problems in life with which I will never be faced.
