Title: What's Your Favorite Sauce?
Post by: matwell on March 31, 2009, 06:59:08 AM
Hello Everyone,

I saw this on another forum (Weber Virtual Bullet). With the exception of the wonderful sauce Iceman produces, I am curious what the commercial sauce of preference is?
I have used Famous Daves and Sweet baby Rays with decent results. I have a jar of bone suckin sauce in my pantry, I have not tried yet. In the jar it seems kind of runny, not as thick as other barbecue sauces. I have heard good reviews on it. Thanks.

We have used the Cookies brands with some success. A friend brought me the Budweiser series of sauces which I am just trying now so far they aint bad.

I really like the sauce from Russ & Franks. I buy the "Sassy" and "Fiery" by the gallon sizes. Good product at a good price. Long shelf life.

I just received my order of Carolina Treet today and it will have a test drive tomorrow. I mixed some with a really spicy fatty mix and added it to a wing marinade I will cook tomorrow.

"Wings and Fattys". The cure for the economic downturn! :-*

When i can't make my own I end up using some Bone Suckin' Sauce.  (http://www.bonesuckin.com)

I get the hot and suggest getting it in 1/2 gallons if you like it.  I get mine here:  http://www.shop.southernthings.com/product.sc;jsessionid=DD0CE048C5B7299E2D856BF791C85C9F.qscstrfrnt02?productId=265

Try it out and let me know what you think!

My taste is always changing. I use one then get tired of it and switch.
Right now I'm hung up on Cookshack Spicy Barbecue Sauce (http://store.cookshack.com/c-145-spicy-bbq-sauce.aspx)

I usually end up with some flavour of "Bulls-Eye" brand sauce, depending on what is on the plate.

Hi Guys,

Been a long time since I've posted anything......good to see everyone is still around :) I've alwalys liked sweet baby rays on most everything. I have a few jars of iceman's sauce that I save for ribs, but recently I've tried bulls-eye original and really liked that also.

Famous daves has some good sauces, we like the Devils Spit and the Sweet & Zesty. A really good sauce for pulled pork North Carolina style is Scott's. www.scottsbarbecuesauce.com

Carolina Treet is my sauce of choice for grilling pork and chicken (better if soaked overnight in it), but I have been hesitant to use it in the smoker.  What/how do you and Smokin Soon use it on?

Where do you get the Carolina Treet; CarolinaTreet.com(?) is kinda high, but can't always find it at the local supermarkets;  Kroger never has it and Ingles seems to keep a limited supply.

What I have found to be the very best of beef marinades and BBQ sauce is Stubbs.  We have used it for years and use nothing other than Stubbs.  The beef marinaide cannot be beat.  Take your steaks and place them in a zip lock gallon bag and marinade for 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on taste.

I haven't tried the beef marinade yet. I'll have to get it a try. The Stubbs Spicy BBQ sauce is also good.

We really like Rudy's BBQ Sauce... http://www.rudys.com/

I might need to try some of the more popular ones in this thread though. It'd be good to find one available at a local supermarket instead of having to mailorder.

Rudy's... brings back memories.  Used to go there when they first started serving barbecue in their only store (Leon Springs - about 20 years ago) and bring 3-4 bottles of sauce back to Hawaii (when you could carry liquids on airplanes) and then later when they opened across from Sea World.  Now I think they have about 25 locations in 3 states.

Though it seems to be more and more difficult to get your hands on, Oklahoma Joe's was our favorite until they left the market here.  We didn't have the stores, but the sauce and rub were available at Albertson's grocery stores.

i love carolina treet, it has been my favorite since i was a little kid, cant get it around where i live so i have to order it, but i always pick up several bottles when i visit my family in north carolina about twice a year. i use it to grill chicken, pork chops and even grilled spam. i dont like it as much on babybacks or pulled pork, for those i just use jack daniels sauce or bullseye.

I absolutely LOVE Daddy Sam's ginger jalapeno sauce. (http://www.daddysams.com/home.asp)  I'm good friends with the owner of another hot-sauce, BBQ sauce company and his stuff is good but Daddy Sam's is my go-to sauce.

I should have linked to my friends company...  It's http://Cajohns.com if you like a seriously hot BBQ sauce the HDH BBQ sauce is great.  His hot sauces and salsas are great.  Honestly his BBQ sauces are really good I just can't get beyond Daddy Sams.

Hailing from southern MI, I've always been partial to Open Pit BBQ Sauce (http://www.openpit.com/index.html (http://www.openpit.com/index.html)), either right out of the bottle or as a base for doctored sauce. Since I live in AZ, I have to have my mom send care packages.

Ho Made Sauce sounds...intriguing.

I search every store I go to for something new or ones I have never tried.

Those you see I have tried and like them and use them when I have nothing "New" to use.

I smoke something 3 to 4 times a week so I use alot.
