Long story short, I am on a diet and I have 3 jars of Iceman's Sauce left.
Rather than just letting it sit there, I figured I would try to get some good out of it.

Funds from the highest bidder will be donated to the Indianapolis Humane Society
Every year, the Indianapolis Humane Society holds an event called "The Mutt Strut" to help raise money to fund their shelter.

"The Mutt Strut"
The Mutt Strut is held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Home of the Indianapolis 500 and "Brickyard" 400. Its an all day event for you and your dog. You walk your dog around the 2.5 mile race track.
This event is being held on Sunday, April 26, 2009. If anyone wishes to donate outside of here, or would like to know more about it, you can visit www.indymuttstrut.org.
THE MUTT
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y251/ndexter/Dog%20Pictures/IMG_1004.jpg)
This is our dog Elsa. She will be the one you are sponsering to walk around the track. (That is ice cream that is on her face.... she was saving it for later!)
I will ship the jars of sauce for free. Here is your chance to get some more of Iceman's Sauce while helping out a good cause!
THIS AUCTION WILL END AT 6 PM EST ON APRIL 19, 2009
Just post the amount you wish to bid
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y251/ndexter/IMG_1019.jpg)
Oh - I will also proove that the funds went for this event once I register.
Thank you and good luck!
Three questions:
1. Before I assume anything, are we bidding for all three bottles?
2. What's the minimum bid and increment (I'd suggest $20 and $5 respectively)?
3. Will you provide a tax donation receipt?

Yes it is for all 3 jars and yes I will provide a detailed tax donation receipt.
It doesnt matter what bid increments are. $5 is good if that works for everyone. Just as long as its not like $0.01 or $0.02
Okay, I'll start it off at $25 (that's a nice round $10 per mile for the mutt) and if I win, I promise not to tell you how I won a racing trophy at the Indy Speedway back in November of 1963 (at one of the slowest speeds ever recorded).
Aint nuttin better than helpin a struttin mutt.....$40.00

I got "stiffed" by Andy Griffith when I was tending bar in New York back in the 60s. So there!
Speaking of the 60s, $60 is my final bid until much closer to the closing date. That's $20 a bottle/$24 a mile.
Wow... we have a battle on our hands here!
High Bidder: Ka Hanu - $60
Of course pictures will be taken the day of and posted so you can see the event your donation has supported.

Dex - Can you end the auction on Saturday or Monday (or essentially any day other than Easter Sunday)? I'm probably not the only one who will be up to his elbows doing Easter things and won't be able to submit that last-minute winning bid. I have a six-hour time lag so you're ending it at noon my time, right in the middle of our Easter brunch party (whine, whine, whine). Thanks.

Heheh.... dont hate on the 2XL - Thats what I wear! Trying to maybe get into a XL (hence the diet and reasoning for not using these jars of sauce!)

KyNola - If you want to PM me the max you wish to bid, I will post it for you close to closing time. Just let me know.
KyNola - I'd hate you for going to New Orleans and say you deserved to miss out on the auction but since I only have two weeks till I head that way, I'll be generous and just tell you to make sure you leave a few mudbugs and oysters for me. OBTW, ever eat at Jacques Imo's (uptown on Oak St.)? If not, give it a try - awesome place!
Thanks Dex, I'll probably take you up on that offer of the PM.
Ka Honu, I would totally understand your hating me but I'll try to leave you some crawfish anyhow. :) They were having a real shortage early on as the winter weather conditions weren't good to grow crawfish. Read recently that the weather has cooperated a lot more and crawfish are starting to be plentiful again.. Sure hope so, along with the soft shell crabs! I'll check the phone book when I'm there about places that sell spices in bulk too.
KyNola
We go to NOLA 3 times a year. Was there in Oct. Cant remember which store we was in at the French Quarter cuz i had too many blackened voodoo beers :o Wife took the pic.

Like eBay, I presume you'll post a high bid $5 over the last online bid but below the mystery bidder's max so we know you haven't forgotten about us?

Good question. Here is my take on it. My instructions were to place "this amount" towards the end of the auction. So, I will not be doing proxy bidding, however I will reply to every bid so they know if they are high bidder or not. I will be on here... you will know!
Okay, I guess. I'll go to $120 just to test the system. If I'm not high, please post so others know they have to bid at least $125.

Very spirited bidding. Congratulations KyNola.
Ka Huna;
Maybe you can offer KyNola $101 plus shipping for one jar of sauce. :)
Only if I get the tax deduction
Coming to you from from New Orleans, thanks everyone. Jan and I are thrilled to have a bit more Ice's sauce but even more thrilled to support such a great cause as the Mutt Strut. We have no kids so our dogs are our kids and we are dog people.
Ka Honu, check out your original post about bulk spices in NOLA. Found one but not sure it's what you're looking for.
KyNola
WOW...nice job! :o ;D :D
Holy Molly Folks!!! I am floored and very happy about the donations to a great cause. Ann and I will donate also so just let me know how. We are involved with the German Shepard rescue up here in Alaska.
KyNola you need to PM us so we can get a package sent down to you.
To our friends on the forum we will try to get time soon to get more sauce out to you. The new job is very stressful to say the least right now. Hang in there folks.
Again thank you very much for your support for the furry critters. It really means a lot to us. This is truly the best group of people we have had the pleasure to meet. Hope all of you weather this economic do. do. out and we can all get back to the normal stuff soon.
Smoke On Friends.
Best to all Pat and Ann ;D
I'm hoarding Pat...I'm scared.... :D You need to make MORE...we're all begging you!!! ;D
BTW we have room for one more Shepard that would be welcome in our house. If any of you know of one that needs a good home please let us know. We will pay all the costs and possibly fly down if need be to get a pup in need of a great home. We have 5 acres and a large house with just two other dogs that are very easy going. The only problem is, the pup would get spoiled very fast so keep that in mind. :D
We would be glad to share pictures and info on the house and kids we have if you would like.
Thanks again for the auction folks. You are truly an amazing group of people. :)

Too be proud of for sure Iceman.

Thanks everyone! They reported on the news today that over 9,000 people walked
Really enjoyed the pics Dex, I lived there from 1960 - 1977. Pics of Indy brought back some good memories!
Dex,
What a great event! Jan wanted to know if we got Elsa too! I told her I was fairly confident after looking at those great pics that we didn't bid near enough to include the dog. :D She's a beauty.
9000 people walking, that is amazing.
Thanks for the pics and the auction opportunity.
