About the same price for salmon here, when its on sale....Briskets always 1.68 lb and when on sale .99 have seen them as low as .59 a lb, limit 2 with a 10 dollar purchase.  Needless to say during that sale, I'm in the store everyday!   ;D

The fresh, wild caught Alaskan Salmon goes on sale here for $10-13/pound.  And, it's good, when I can get it.  The farm raised Atlantic Salmon isn't worth buying.  Artificial color added?  Yuk.

Well around here Alder is typical because that is what the natives used and they used cedar. I have never tried cedar even though people will cedar plank their salmon I always wonder about smoking with it. It has oils in it that I don't know what would taste like. You will also notice that Bradley doesn't make cedar bisquettes. Apple and maple are good, but I say try whatever you think you might like, it might surprise you. That is part of the fun of this smoking, experimentation.
