My favorite son in law smoked a tri tip, 4 pieces about 5 pounds each, in a borrowed propane smoker for Christmas dinner....Turned out great...He tells me he smoked it for 1 1/2 hours and then let cook, in the smoker, at 200 for another 2 hours..to an internal temp of 150 degrees.... Pretty expensive cut of beef and I would really not like to screw it up....Have any of you tried tri tip on a BDS?......Please point me in the right direction......Thanks Bill :)

Since he is your Favorite SIL, he probably didn't tell you any fibs. ;D

Since you are going low and slow, don't use the bottom rack, infact I would use the 3rd rack.

Besure and pre heat your cab. Have your maverick temp probe in the proper place and take
several reading with IT probe when it becomes time to take off.
