Bisquettes: consumble product or a spice?

The way I see it the Bisquettes are a "spice".  They do not add heat, just flavoring.  Therefor they are a "food" and should not be subject to sales tax?  Right?  I am no teabagger, but hey, I would rather spend that money on meat.  As anyone tried to eat one?  After cooking of course.
