Hi all,
Just wanted to stop in, introduce myself and say thanks for the wealth of information I have found in this forum.

I'll join the crowd as I also ordered a DB6 on Father's Day and I cannot wait until it arrives. I have been smoking meat in a cheapy offset smoker for about 6 months now and cannot seem to gain any consistency with the lump charcoal and wood chunks. In the offset smoker sometimes magic happens and sometimes it doesn't. I am truly hoping to cook more consistently with the BD6.

I know I have read a bunch of info in here but I'll throw a question out there for all to answer and discuss: What would you recommend for my first smoke in my new BD6?

Something forgiving for sure and something in the 6 hour range give or take an hour or so.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Welcome aboard!  Chicken is a good choice.  Open the vent wide open.

Welcome to the forum KEABOS63, and congrats on the new smoker. Don't forget to get some bisquettes. I also think chicken would be a good first smoke.

Welcome KEAB, I suggest butt.  Very easy.

I'll be sure to post some pics of the baptism (seasoning) of my new BD6 as well as the first smoke. Thanks to all for suggesting chicken as this reassures my thoughts as well. As far as bisquettes I have a 60 pack ordered as well as the BD6 so I am ready to go when it gets in. I opted for the variety pack just so I have more than 1 option for smoke. My family really liked pecan and apple smoke so I have an idea what we like but I want expiriment as much as possible in the future. Thanks again and I'll be posting soon.
