Pulled Pork

When buying the meat for pulled pork, is it best to go with a bone-in pork butt? or boneless?

I use which ever butt is cheapest.  ;D

Most of the time its bone in.

i go with the cheapest and 10 to 15 lbs allowing for shrinkage

  x3 on the cheapest but most of the time the cheapest is the one with the bone in it...

I purchased two Boneless pork Butts at costco for the first time. I ground one up for sausage making and I am going to do a pulled pork with the other. I may have to tie it up with butchers string as they kind of come apart when they take the bone out :) Either way you got a big old clod of meat ;D

I get the Costco boneless shoulders.  Without trussing they will pull apart and those small pieces tend to get pretty dry.  The advantage is that since they flatten out they cook quicker.

I always buy the shoulder with bone in.  IMHO the bone in adds a little taste that I like, and it usually is cheaper.
