Last time I used my Smoker I noticed my front element was not glowing like

it should. I touched and got burnt, but it just didn't seem to be as hot as the

back element. So I installed a new one today and did some cleaning and

installed another rack below the last factory rack ala SouthernSmokes(for the

Turbo Shield). I also cleaned the door seal good and scraped the rack holders

for dried crud.

Element glowing Red!

And NOOOOOOOOOOO, I am not mad the element is not as hot as it use to be

(at least in my mind it's not as hot). I use my smokers all the time and load it

down every time I use it. I am a happy camper! I love my Bradley's.

CRG, can you elaborate on the "turbo shield"?

A member posted one time that he cover the back vents of his Bradley

with aluminum foil to help force the heat up thru the center of the Cabinet.

Well Bradley frowns on that and I was playin around and took an empty

rack and cut some heavy gauge aluminum and slanted it down so the juices

would still find there way down the v-tray.

SouthernSmokes went a step farther and had some racks made that now

look like this. He might have changed them a bit as this one is one of the

first two he had made. It helps in re-directing the heat off the back wall

and back up thru the center of the smoker. I love mine on massive meat

cooks like Butts, Briskets, etc. The temp on the digital control runs real

close to the PID. In fact on Butts, I sometime don't use my PID.

If you are interested, you might give SouthernSmokes a PM

and see if he has any at this time.

Thanks CRG.  The pictures are great.

If you have a fan kit then you will probably have to use the bottom

rack that came on it.

I have a fan kit and I don't use it now with the shield so I took the blade off.
