The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to eat certainBos' Naturally Smoked Herring Fillets - Natural product because they may cause botulism. (Handout)

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to eat certain Bos brand Herring Fillets because they may cause botulism, a life-threatening illness.

The agency says Bos' Naturally Smoked Herring Fillets - Natural product was sold in various packages from Ramaker's Imports in St. Catharines, ON, without a Best Before Date applied to the package. It was sold from September 2011 to December 7, 2011 and is being recalled.

Consumers who have purchased the product from any other retailer without a Best Before Date on the package are also advised not to open the package.

The CFIA says there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the fillets.

The CFIA is also warning the public not to consume sliced mushrooms bearing the brand names Windmill Farms, Compliments, and Longo's because they may be contaminated with Listeria.

These products have been distributed in Ontario and the agency says there have been no reported illnesses associated with eating the mushrooms. They are currently being recalled from stores.
   

The agency also issued a warning against selling or eating nearly 30 different Fontaine Sante brand salads because they may be contaminated with listeria.
