Wilid hog vs Domestic?

Hey gents, is there any difference in smoking a wilg hog vs a domestic? Ive got some wild pork in my freezer and was wanting to smoke some chops and the ham that i have left. Does anybody have any suggestions on smoke and rubs? I was thinking that pecan might be nice. Thanks in advance guys.  Mark

Wild pork is (usually) much leaner, and will dry out on you if you treat it like domestic pork.

Pecan is good on pork.

One other thing to consider is that wild hog should always be cooked until well done (165 ?F degrees) to avoid the possibility of contracting Trichinosis (a parasitic disease caused by eating wild game infected with the larvae of the trichina worm).  Unlike domestic pork, freezing wild game does not kill all trichinosis larval worms. This is because the worm species that typically infests wild game can resist freezing.

Maybe not but I wont eat any wild pork with out freezing a month. Just me!
