Just picked up my Bradley Original Smoker from Cabala's.  I'm planning on doing some mods first before I get to smoking my first meats.  I'll be searching the forum for good ideas, and taking my time to get everything right.  Lot's of good ideas out there so far :)

Hi Dave;

Welcome to the forum.

I've done a few mods, but I feel one should use the smoker and get to know it before making changes. But there is nothing wrong with adding features right out of the box.

My first mods were going to be simple, the recirc fan, and a PID.  I'll play with the smoker for a few months after that and get a feel for how it works.  I'm also going to be placing the smoker into an outdoor storage unit to keep the wind from affecting it.  My idea was to line the storage unit with the same waterheater foil backed insulation, then add a chimney to vent the smoke out of the box.  I'm debating about adding a small fan to help vent the box, it would have to be a low CFM style and it would only be to keep the smoke from damaging the electronics in the PID.

More to come  8)

If it were me I would use my smoker for a while before I did any mods to it just to get a feel for it.  Sort of like buying a car and completely rebuilding the motor before you even start it.

Whatever you choose, enjoy your smoker!
