Well Daughter showed up by suprise today. So did three grand kids. Wife and wasnt planing on guests. So I told her to run out grab a couple chickens and a cabbage. No Brine just coated well with Jans Rub, stuffed the cabbage with Fried Bacon, cabbage ,onions ,peppers and garlic. Covered with bacon, took the rest and put in a foil pan with leftover bacon strips on top. Smoked with Hickory and into the oven till finished! Every one loved them even 2 of my grand kids that wont eat chicken or cabbage. Their mothers face is still frozen in awe! And everybody including the grand kids said it was the best they ever tasted! Thanks again Jan!  Sorry no pics 3 boys under the age of 6, smoking and cooking and two women and 3 dogs. It was such a night mare trying to get down I completely forgot! LOL Not even enough left over for a decent snack.

I gotta ask this --- details on the cabbage please please please!!!!

Did you cut out the core to stuff it? Did you smoke it? If so how long!

Sounds amazing and I think my 2 grandkids would like it too!

I removed the hard part of the core. Then cut the hole with in a inch or so of bottom. Opened the whole to 1 /34- 2 inches chipping away with a knife at the cabbage. Threw a way the hard part of the core. Really very little. Then chopped the stuff I removed and added to 2 whole medium onions plus it was a little dry so I added a small amount of olive oil. Fried about 1/2 a lb of bacon. dumped in the chopped part of the cabbage plus the onions, some chopped green peppers and a couple teaspoons of Granulated Garlic. Fried till onions and peppers were just about done and stuffed what I could into cabbage head. Covered opening with a few slices of left over bacon that I had cut in half length wise.. Took the rest of the mixture and poured into a cheap aluminum pie pan. Put the rest of the bacon on top of that also cut in half same way. Made a small opening in the mixture and set the head in the pan too. Cook till the cabbage is tender to a probe all the way in. It was really good and some thing my daughter never seen.

Yes a lot of info available on it. I never tried this before and it turned out great. Already have new ideas for others.

Try using hot Italian sausage instead of or even with the bacon. That also comes out great.
